A little look into a beauty blogger event I attended a number of weeks ago.
Saturday 20th June – Alarm set 4.30am….Yes I thought I was going crazy too!!
But no, I was up dressed, cup of tea makeup on and waking the hubby up at 5am to take me to Central station Newcastle so that I could catch my 5.59am train to London Kings Cross.
I was on my way to attend a “How to be a beauty blogger workshop” with the stunning and flawless Antonia Mariconda(also known as The Cosmedic Coach) http://thecosmediccoach.com/
I arrived at Kings cross station and made my way to Oxford Circus to meet the delightful Kara Haggar who I had never actually met before only chatted via Facebook through a company called Beauty Finder. We both then made our way to The Soho Hotel. Well, what am I meant to say about this….. absolutely stunning decor, full of sophistication and class and the ideal location for an event like this one.
We approached the hotel and inside we were directed into a room which looked like a very elaborate cinema with huge cosy leopard print chairs. And there we were introduced to Antonia herself, so petite and stunning. With he twitter following over 47k, her blog approx 250k monthly visits and over 1500 LinkedIn endorsements this lady is flying high. We took a seat and had a little bag given to us with a bottle of water and some little goodies including a bag of sweets to nibble on. (That was me on a happy note!!! ) I sat in that chair for the next hour or so and was totally blown away with everything about the blogger industry and learned so much, I am surprised my pen didn’t set on fire the speed I was writing all my notes down!! We had the opportunity to pick Antonia’s brains and ask her questions based on the blogging world which was useful to all of us. We covered a range of topics such as Network Marketing, social media, WordPress or blogger etc. Lots of handy info was there to grab with both hands in which I did.
Next Antonia introduced a special guest Jane Cunningham Award Winning Beauty Blogger http://britishbeautyblogger.com/ Jane answered questions from us and also gave us the heads up with lots of useful tips and tricks of the industry and gave us an insight into what can actually be achieved.
Another guest speaker was the fabulous Fiona Longmuir another blogger who actually I am very inspired by with her story. http://theescapologistsdaughter.co.uk/
Fiona spoke about how she became known in the blogging industry with her story on the tube station and beach body post which she done, and proved how with one little “moment of madness” can turn your life into something wonderful.
Now onto to the technical bits n bobs with the wonderful Mark Bugg who helped us with explaining about websites and blogs and all the little bits that surround these. He gave us the chance also to ask questions and take notes and explaining issues that surround WordPress and blogger and learning about domain names and hosting. I took this all in as I am not the best when it comes to technicalities like this I prefer a bit of fake tan and me lipgloss!!
We had a small break where we had tea/coffee and beautiful biscuits and this was a great opportunity to meet some other bloggers and alike in the industry. Stephanie Canham was one of those ladies who was very polite and well spoken, I am now subscribed to her blog and we have had little chats since and help each other on our journey. http://www.pricelesslifeofmine.com/
At the end of the day we chatted amongst each other and exchanged business cards with each other and noted some contact details down for future reference. We were given a pink goodie bag (I would be lying if I said I wanted to wait till I got home to open it – I waited as far as the train journey home). It was a goody bag like no other with a wide range of products from a glossybox full of products, 2 full size Malvina skin care products, lashes and adhesive/lip liner and eye liner from Provoc, face masks, temporary tattoos, cellulite cream, samples and much more I was in my element.
After the event ended I made sure I grabbed a photo of the lady herself Antonia Mariconda and me and Kara made our way home towards to tube station. Taking a slight detour to the Mac Po store of course as I wanted to grab a couple of eyeshadows whilst I was there. What can I say, overall it was a wonderful day and I gained a lot of knowledge and it has given me so much motivation to take that Leap of faith and have no regrets. I would recommend these events to anyone whether your just starting out like me or if you have been in the industry years its nice to have another brain to pick and meet new people who Id like to now class as friends.
